Hearth and Harbor hard-shell wreath storage container

Best Wreath Storage (2026): 5 Bags and Containers by Wreath Size

How we choose products: we compare fit, size and load ratings from each maker’s listing and specs. We don’t claim hands-on testing unless a post says so — see our methodology.

Last updated: October 29, 2026

Quick answer: For a standard artificial door wreath, the Primode 30-inch wreath storage bag is the simple, low-cost pick and the most-rated one we found. If your wreath has delicate picks, bows or ornaments, the Hearth & Harbor hard-shell container has stiff walls, a board in the base and interior pockets for loose decorations. For a big 36-inch wreath you’d rather hang than stack, the Santa’s Bags 36-inch hanging bag clips to the wreath’s wire frame and hangs up.

Measure first: the widest diameter and the front-to-back depth, including the bow and anything that sticks out, and compare them with the space the bag is made to hold. These are for artificial wreaths; fresh wreaths don’t keep from one year to the next.

How we picked: We compared wreath storage bags and containers on Amazon US by stated wreath size, depth, structure (soft bag, stiff-walled box or hanging bag), material, seller and rating counts. We checked stock and listings for delivery to New York 10001 on October 29, 2026. We did not test these bags ourselves; this guide is based on listing specs, and the storage advice comes from university and conservation sources. Check CPSC’s recall database before you buy; the absence of a recall is not a safety certification. We left out bags with only a handful of ratings and a well-rated VENO 4-pack our product tool could not load.

Before You Buy: Measure Your Wreath

  1. Measure the widest diameter, edge to edge, including the bow, pinecones, picks and anything else that sticks out.
  2. Measure the depth from the back of the frame to the highest decoration. Depth varies by bag (two of our picks list 8 inches), so check each bag’s stated depth.
  3. Check what the size describes. Wreath bags are sold in sizes such as 24, 30 and 36 inches; some listings give the bag’s dimensions and others the largest wreath it holds. If your wreath is close to the limit, choose a slightly larger bag so nothing is pressed flat.

Packing Tip: Fluff and reshape artificial branches as you take the wreath out each year. Squeezing a wreath into a bag that is too small can flatten the foliage and decorations.

1. Primode Wreath Storage Bag, 30 in, Black

Best Overall
  • Polyester
  • These wreath storage bags protect your seasonal wreaths so you can use them again and again – year after year.
  • Our Xmas wreath storage bags are made out of a premium quality polyester to ensure durability.

Why we picked it: A plain, affordable zip bag that fits the most common job. Per the listing, it measures 30 x 8 inches, “just the right size” for standard artificial door wreaths, is made of polyester (the title says 600D Oxford polyester), and has carry handles. It had 5,647 ratings at our check, the most of any wreath bag we found, sold by Primode and shipped by Amazon.

Best for: one or two everyday artificial door wreaths up to about 30 inches across. Who this is NOT for: wreaths with fragile ornaments or big bows; a soft bag can be crushed if something heavy is stacked on it.

Limitation: the listing gives few details beyond size and fabric, and the outside size is not the same as the space inside, so a wreath that measures a full 30 inches may be a tight fit.

2. Hearth & Harbor Hard-Shell Wreath Storage Container, 24 in

Best Hard-Shell Container

Why we picked it: Stiffer than a soft bag. Per the listing, it has stiff “hard shell” walls of non-woven fabric with a board in the base to keep its shape, removable interior pockets for bows and loose decorations, dual zippers and reinforced handles, and it comes in 24, 30 and 36-inch sizes. It had 2,288 ratings at our check (a count Amazon shares across the sizes), sold and shipped by Amazon.

Best for: decorated wreaths with picks, berries or ornaments. Its listed stiffened walls may reduce accidental squashing, but we haven’t tested how much weight it takes, so don’t stack boxes on it. Who this is NOT for: anyone expecting a rigid plastic box: the “hard shell” is stiffened fabric.

Limitation: pick the size by your wreath’s full diameter; the 24-inch box in this card is for small wreaths, and the 36-inch version is our next pick.

3. Hearth & Harbor Hard-Shell Wreath Storage Container, 36 in

Best Hard-Shell for 36-in Wreaths

Why we picked it: The same stiff-walled container in the largest size, for big front-door wreaths. Per the listing, it has the same features as the 24-inch box: stiffened non-woven walls, a base board, removable interior pockets, dual zippers and reinforced handles. It shares the 2,288-rating count at our check, sold and shipped by Amazon.

Best for: 30 to 36-inch decorated wreaths you store on a shelf. Who this is NOT for: small closets; a 36-inch box takes up a lot of shelf space.

Limitation: the listing doesn’t give the inside depth, so check that thick, full wreaths will close without being pressed flat.

4. Santa’s Bags Hanging Wreath Storage Bag, up to 36 in

Best Hanging Bag

Why we picked it: It lets you hang a wreath instead of stacking things on it. Per the listing, it stores greenery wreaths up to 36 inches in diameter, has a carabiner that clips the bag’s handle to the wreath’s wire frame so it doesn’t sag, a wrap-around zipper for wide-open access, padded carrying handles, and hangs up to keep the wreath from being crushed. The fabric is a wipe-clean red polyester canvas. It had 579 ratings at our check, sold by Christmas World.

Best for: large wreaths stored in a closet or garage where you can hang them from a hook or rod. Who this is NOT for: wreaths without a sturdy wire frame for the carabiner.

Limitation: it is sold by a third-party seller rather than shipped by Amazon at our check, so check the delivery time and return terms.

5. Lukinm Clear Wreath Storage Bag, 24 in

Best Clear Bag

Why we picked it: You can see what’s inside without opening it. Per the listing, it is a 24-inch clear PVC bag, 8 inches tall, with dual zippers and reinforced handles, and the seller says the depth fits two 24-inch wreaths together. It had 314 ratings at our check, sold by Lukinm and shipped by Amazon.

Best for: smaller seasonal wreaths (Easter, fall, Halloween as well as Christmas) that you want to find quickly. Who this is NOT for: large or heavily decorated wreaths, or a damp storage spot.

Limitation: the seller calls the PVC “waterproof”, but a closed plastic bag can also hold in moisture, so pack only a fully dry wreath and keep it somewhere dry (see below).

Where to Store Wreaths

  • Cool, dry and steady beats hot and damp. University of Delaware art conservators advise storing holiday decorations in a cool, dry, climate-controlled space and avoiding attics and basements when you can, because humidity and temperature swings can cause damage. A bag or box keeps out dust; it doesn’t fix a damp or very hot room.
  • Hang if you can. The professional organizers quoted by House Beautiful suggest hanging garlands and wreaths to make use of vertical space; a hanging bag also keeps other boxes off the wreath.
  • Skip cardboard for long-term storage. Texas A&M’s school pest-management program warns that cardboard can harbor roaches, silverfish, mice and mold, and recommends durable plastic containers for long-term storage of holiday decorations. A fabric bag isn’t pest-proof either, so keep it off the floor and check it once in a while.
  • Pack it dry. If an outdoor wreath got wet, let it dry fully indoors before you zip it into any bag, especially a plastic one.

What About Fresh Wreaths?

A fresh evergreen wreath isn’t one to store. Iowa State University Extension notes that fresh-cut wreaths and garlands typically last only 7 to 10 days indoors, and that cool, moist conditions keep them best. When it’s done, keep the frame, ribbon and decorations if you like, and follow your local disposal rules for the greenery. In Minnesota, for example, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture asks people to use a designated drop-off site where one accepts greenery, rather than tossing it into backyard woods or a home compost pile, because it can spread invasive pests.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to store a wreath?

Put a dry artificial wreath in a bag or box that fits its widest diameter and depth, including the bow, and keep it somewhere cool and dry. University of Delaware conservators advise avoiding attics and basements when you can. Hanging it, in a hanging bag or on a hook, keeps other boxes from crushing it.

What size wreath storage bag do I need?

Measure the wreath edge to edge across the widest point, including bows and picks, and check the depth. Bags come in sizes such as 24, 30 and 36 inches; check whether the listing gives the bag’s size or the largest wreath it holds, and choose a slightly larger bag if you are close.

Are hard wreath storage containers better than bags?

For decorated wreaths, a stiff-walled container like the Hearth & Harbor may reduce squashing compared with a soft bag (we haven’t tested it). For a plain artificial wreath, a soft bag such as the Primode is enough and takes less space.

Can you store a wreath in a plastic bag?

You can store a fully dry artificial wreath in a clear plastic wreath bag, but closed plastic storage in humid conditions can raise the risk of mold, so never pack a damp wreath and keep it in a dry spot.

Can you save a fresh wreath for next year?

No. Iowa State University Extension notes fresh-cut wreaths typically last 7 to 10 days indoors. Keep the frame and decorations, and follow your local disposal rules for the greenery.

The Bottom Line

For a standard artificial door wreath, get the Primode 30-inch bag. For decorated wreaths, choose the Hearth & Harbor stiff-walled container in the right size (24, 30 or 36 inches); to hang a big wreath, the Santa’s Bags 36-inch; and for small seasonal wreaths you want to see at a glance, the Lukinm clear bag. Measure the widest diameter and depth first, pack it dry, and store it somewhere cool and dry.
